MISSION
The Faculty of Arts at South-West University “Neofit Rilski” has no equivalent within the Bulgarian higher education system. It provides education for students in almost all fields of art. The Faculty maintains good partnerships with various cultural institutions, including the State Ensemble for Folk Songs and Dances “Pirin”, Chamber Opera – Blagoevgrad, “Nikola Vaptsarov” Drama Theatre, the “Macedonia Art” Association of Artists – Blagoevgrad, the Regional Historical Museum in Blagoevgrad, Big Band – Blagoevgrad, Radio Blagoevgrad, and others. This provides students with the opportunity, during their studies, to demonstrate their creative talents and achievements in the field of their chosen specialty.
The mission of the Faculty of Arts is to conduct educational, artistic-creative, and research activities for the needs of cultural institutions, electronic media, orchestras, ensembles, educational institutions, and others, by attracting, educating, and developing highly qualified students and academic staff. Through the quality of the specialists it prepares and the scientific research it carries out, the Faculty of Arts declares its ethical commitment to providing Bulgarian society and the societies of the other European Union member states with:
- human resources in professional fields who possess new knowledge, skills, and competencies and are prepared to develop new ones through self-improvement, advancement, and lifelong learning in a knowledge-based environment;
- analyses, management decisions, and innovations that respond to current problems and needs of organizations in the cultural and artistic sectors, contributing to the recognition of art as an essential factor in education and social cohesion.
DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY OF THE FACULTY OF ARTS FOR THE PERIOD 2023–2027
The present strategy for the development of the Faculty of Arts at South-West University “Neofit Rilski” has been prepared in accordance with the priorities set out in the EU Strategy “Europe 2020” for smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth, as well as in compliance with the University regulations concerning research activities (Regulations for the Organization and Implementation of Research Activities, Regulations for Conducting Scientific Sessions under Article 65 of the Higher Education Act, Rules for Organizing Research and Artistic-Creative Activities of Students and Postgraduate Students, Rules for Doctoral Training at SWU “Neofit Rilski”, adopted in 2005), as well as with the Development Strategy of SWU “Neofit Rilski”, the International Cooperation Strategy of SWU “Neofit Rilski”, the Research Activity Plan, and all related strategic documents of the departments comprising the Faculty.
The purpose of this strategy is to serve as a fundamental strategic document for organizing the artistic-creative, research, and educational activities of the Faculty of Arts, as well as for the management and administrative control that it should exercise.
The main strategic goal of the Faculty of Arts at South-West University “Neofit Rilski” for the period 2023–2027 is to establish itself as one of the leading and competitive faculties in the field of arts at national and international level.
